Exciting, how exciting it was. America decided to turn a page, to renew the American Dream, to give every nation in the world a great and beautiful lesson.

Now time is for Hope (even for this side -Europe- of Antlantic), Hope that a new era of “Change”, a new era where leitmotiv of people and nations is “Change” and “Yes We Can”.

As I’m just in the quarter (I hope!) of my life, now I know what will be the first thing I’ll be proud to tell about to my childen saying “my generation did it”.

Thanks America. Pride.

Today, Symfony lost one of its most influent and important contributor.

According to its webpage, François Zaninotto has decided to leave Symfony, and to stop contributing to it. Personally I’ll miss the guy who is in my opinion one of the (the?) most important web heroes, sometimes a little bit too nervous, but always coming with an original and interesting point of view, and, moreover, with interesting solutions to propose.

We’ll miss you François ; the whole Symfony community will really miss you.

Ouch ...

As a casual webdev (and so a casual “css hacker&tricker“), the only thing I could say is … “so true” …

Gandi isn’t just a powerful registar anymore (even if it was already a little bit more than that, while Gandi proposed users to get not only domains, but also mail accounts or blogs, etc.), Gandi is now an innovant hosting service too !

While cloud computing has been the expression of the week, Gandi makes one with the actuality by opening its hosting service based on a cloud architecture, offering users great flexibility and evolutivity.
Other offers concerning virtual dedicated servers have existed before Gandi, but I think that they’ve never been so easy to manage. Choosing your distribution, augmenting your vm capabilities (by buying new “parts”), the impressive Gandi Flex service (which allows you to augment the number of part used by your server during a specific time interval) : powerful and really easy to master.

Gandi is doing hot and very interesting stuff.

The famous Mysql administration interface PhpMyAdmin has been just released under version 3.0.

Mainly in the place : (few) interface improvements, possibility to export pages to PDF, support for events and triggers, speed optimizations … Not so many new things, but a new major version is always an important event :).

Given to Jonathan Wage (the doctrine master-developer and sensio-employee since September), Symfony 1.2 is now scheduled for the “late Q4 2008” (the initial deadline date for this alleged date-driven release of Symfony was October 2008) …

We just have to hope that this so-much-expected release won’t take the way of Symfony 1.1 (initially annouced for the end of 2007, and which was finally only released by June 2008 …).

A little reminder about sf1.2 : it will bring a brand new admin-generator, which will use the new sfForm framework, and update its ORM layer to finally propose both Doctrine1.0 and Propel1.3.

Linux is growing.

Well, if you have the same friends as mine, when you say such kind of thing, they just laugh, and consider you just as a junky nerd.
They may not be totally wrong, but a thing is sure : *you* are right, according to those xitimonitor stats.

To summarize, in just a year, Linux has taken approximatively 0.4 points, MacOS almost 0.9, and Windows … have lost more than 1.8 points !
Great news, and great evolution, certainly due to the emergence this year of the netbook market (most of this kind of machine are running Linux) …

One hope now : just hope that the 2008-2009 will be another Linux-growing year, due to the announced tendance for it : (smart)phones and other Linux-powered mobile devices …

Let’s see this next year !

Hesitations, hesitations, and … yes, I had to do it.

From this day, I’ll try to write all my homepage stuff in english, that’s the very first change I’ve decided to operate for my blog. So “why”, you’ll ask ?

Because :

First, to become a little bit more pedantic. Sure it has already succeed if I didn’t make any english mistake in the first part of this post.

Second, because of the change of orientation I want for my page. Indeed, from the beginning of my “blogging adventure”, I have never clearly decided of what this page would have to be made.
Well now I think I’ve succeed in finding the new orientations I want for this space.

You will now find here a little bit about my life/my thoughts (well, this is a blog!…), a little bit more about my work(s) (not so much, I promise), but I’ll dedicate most of this space and of my bloggin’time to technology and computer science.

So here it is, I’ll now try to post quite more regularly, and … oh ! yes, I changed the theme of wordpress, pretty nice, uh ? :).

See you soon folks, and long (new) life to this (new?) webspace.

J’ai enfin pris de le temps de m’occuper un peu de ce blog, qui dépérit vraiment malgré toute la bonne volonté que je mets à le … bon non d’accord je n’ai pas mis beaucoup de bonne volonté à faire grand chose dessus.

Tant pis, ce qui est fait est fait, et je vais maintenant tenter de passer à autre chose rapidement.
Au programme de cette rentrée (concernant ce blog), quelques changements que je vais lister dans mon prochain post, pour une raison toute simple …
